Default How Do Black Wheels Hold Up In Winter?

Hello,

I currently have these Chrome rims on my 2005 Mustang GT.
http://www.americanmuscle.com/chrome...18x9-9410.html

I live in Salt Lake City, UT and I know that the salt on the roads in the winter will eat away the chrome.

I really wanted to get some black wheels, and I was thinking of getting the same wheels, but in black. see link below.

How do you think these wheels will hold up in winter? or is there any other brand or type of black wheels that would be better.

Thanks for any input.

Salt will eventually pit any surface, painted or chrome!

Use your stockers or buy some from newtakeoff.com and use those during the winter.

Powder coat the ones you have.. Think mine cost like $300 to get them done maybe a little less. Gives you some choices in color of black if you wanted metallic or flat etc...

I drive my car year round and have 150,000 miles on it right now. No problems with my wheels and Michigan isn't exactly stingy on the salt in the winter.

What kind of rims do you have?

my problem is I sold the stock rims and tires. I have Bridgestone all weather tires. I just wanted to switch out the rims. they are 18 x 9's.

Man those black rims are so much sexier. I would say to go for it.

It all depends how long you will have them exposed to salty roads, so it's hard to tell.
While powder coat might resist a little better than paint or chrome, salt will still do its number eventually...

I can tell you for sure that if you wash them thoroughly everytime you use the car, you'll extend your rims life span for sure.
Try to avoid having salt drying on them for too long, like overnight. Not good.

A beater car all together, is the way to go.
