I'm talking the new Camaros. Not the ones 2002 and earlier. The current SS 0-60 4.6 seconds and 1/4 mile 13.1 seconds.

05-09 Gt 0-60 5.1 seconds

Btw lets say I put 4:10 gears in my car. How much faster would the 0-60 be?

As for me, I think I am going to add longtubes and 4.10's, then leave performance alone until I can afford a supercharger.

I spotted a full Vortech V3 kit on Ebay a few days ago, it included everything down to the pillar gauges, for $2500.

5.0 Envy indeed!!!!

I have to say I havent had any problem kicking a** with my 06 on the 3 SS's that took a shot at me...always got them by a car length...then of course I ask if they want to take on my Shelby running 550 rwhp...LOL

Based on my experiences at the local dragstrip add some sticky tires and you are there, with the 4.10's, CAI + tune.

I personally haven't seen a new 5.0 run better than a 13.4 on street tires (yes I have read about it), on stickies have seen them run mid 12's all day long. That said they seem to run about 110+MPH in the 1/4 mile, can you say brute HP!?

I also have 5.0 envy, plan to add FRPP intake, Throttle Body, cams, and long tube headers next spring in an attempt to keep up while remaining N/A, can still turbo or centrifical S/C later.

The odds of blowing your motor on a typical N/A setup yielding 350 rwhp max, IMHO, are far less than blowing it with a typical "HO" supercharger pushing north of 440 rwhp. It was just a simple comment regarding physics of the situation under normal circumstances. We all know there are no absolutes, etc, blah.

The majority of my last post wasn't directed at you, but more towards the comments about boring a motor for more power.

All I was saying to you is that there is no way around creating more cylinder pressure for more power. The bang HAS to be bigger for the output to be greater. People often get frantic about blowers toasting an engine, but the truth is that a N/A setup running at the SAME power level as a blower is almost as likely to go poof. It's just way easier to do with forced induction. For your argument, we can look at it not even in terms of NA versus FI. You could simply say, "a 4.6l making 350rwhp is less likely to explode when compared to a 4.6l making 425 rwhp" which is totally acceptable.

So again, that previous post was like 10% in response to you, and 90% in response to people wanting to bore their motor for more power.

why hasn't anyone brought up a nitrous kit. I just had one installed yesterday with a 75 shot, with plans of going to a 100 shot. I'm pretty sure 100 shot/ CAI/ 4.10 gears would have you there no problem... for a few runs anyhow

Nitrous is a good suggestion, depending on what is to be done with the car. If you want a great ET to look good at the strip, then go for nitrous. If you want a more "Generally" strong car for every other time you are driving it, nitrous doesn't make much sense.

As much as I love my car, the 4.6 is not made for N/A power. At least in 3V, I can't honestly give much comparison to 4 or 2 valve because I haven't owned either. It's great that Strokerstang (and I loved watching the Horsepower Videos, I recommend anyone to watch them if they like that sorta thing) got 385RWHP, maybe with one of the new intake manifolds he'll get even more. However, the cost of getting your heads and engine machined are pretty expensive. Then you add on the expenses of the other parts, cams and everything involved with them, long tubes, driveshaft, each of these items costing upwards of $700 each... You're looking at a project that costs $10k, easy or more. This is with doing most of the installing yourself.

Personally I'm going to be leaving the mods to show, or suspension. I plan on keeping this car, but I definitely want the 5.0 purposely built Coyote instead of a stroked 4.6. I'm not going to be happy with 412hp though, so I'm waiting to see what the aftermarket brings out for N/A because I may even want to bump the compression to 11.5-12, with aggressive cams, P&P Heads, etc which hopefully will bring it up to 450-500 RWHP. Time will tell, and I will be patient.
