I'm gonna do what I do best and go against popular consensus...

There was a bit of debate regarding the TB spacer on the Fusion forums that I used to frequent (fordfusionclub.com). After reading both sides of the argument, I bought a TBS from Steeda for my V6 Fusion to decide for myself. Honestly, I feel it made a noticeable difference in the low end torque for the 220HP 3.0L V6 my Fusion had. I had Steeda's TBS coupled with their CAI, and, I kid you not, I had MUSTANG GT drivers asking me if I had a V8 under the hood because of the acceleration and sound my Fusion had output.

I'm not saying that the OP should get one for his Mustang, I'm just sharing my personal prior experience with said 'performance' mod.

LOL... Spacers were originally designed for intake manifolds with carbs to improve mixing the incoming air with the fuel from the carb. Since our cars are fuel injected down at the intake valves, the spacer is useless. But I guess it works on Fusions... LOL

Save your money for a worthwhile mod!

Lol, I see. That's the type of explanation I was looking for in this thread.

The "seat of your pants" dyno isn't exactly the most reliable measurement tool :P

The only performance mods I plan on doing to my Stang is a CAI, axle-back exhaust (Roush or Steeda) and a tune.

A lot of people "feel" the difference to justify their purchase; this is called the placebo effect. Trust me, there is no way a TB Spacer adds anything.

Sounds like a good plan. The 5.0's are responding well to the CAI/tune combo!

Glad I could help!

I agree that the TB spacers don't work. What bugs me is that supposedly "reputable" companies are making and/or selling them.

The Airaid PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer actually says: "Dyno-proven Helix bore design creates a high-velocity air intake "tornado" for optimized combustion air mixture "

"tornado"..... lol, sounds familiar.

you should buy 6 of them and put NOS stickers all over them. That way, you can run 8s at the track

The added HP from a TB spacer is negated by the added weight of said TB spacer.

No CAI without a tune or its a waste of hard earned $$.

btw
turbulance is NOT what you want in the intake airflow for increased HP

What happens is after you spend your hard earned cash on a TB spacer, your wallet is a little thinner. Therefore, you sit a little lower in the seat. The first time you punch the throttle after installing the TB spacer, it feels like you're sinking back in your seat a bit more than before. In reality, the lack of cash in your wallet has shifted your center of gravity, causing you to feel like the car has gained more power. I'm pretty sure the inventer of the tornado, i mean TB spacer, took this effect into account when designing his product.
