Default TSB 07-18-2 (Front End Noise Over Bumps)

How many have bought the parts and done this install themselves? Can this be done "fairly" easy with just jack stands, floor jacks and a spring compressor?

I'm getting down to about two weeks of warranty left on my 2007 GT (which may not be enough time for me to get it scheduled), and what bothers me even more is that the service rep at my nearest local Ford dealer has never heard of this TSB. Yikes!

I think it's incredible that a Ford dealership isn't aware of TSB's on the cars they sell and service.

As far as the TSB, try torqueing all of the pillar nuts to spec first, THEN go with the TSB if still necessary.

its not the scheduling, its the reported problem. Go in there and have him document for you that you are reporting the problem now and need to arrange time for service. That way if your at 59k miles right now, when you go in at 60001 he cant say its out of warranty.

Thanks for the replies guys ... anybody with any information on rating the difficulty doing this work themselves instead of the stealership?

is this the one where your putting in GT500 strut mounts? Either way, its not hard at all to pull the factory sturt assembly. IIRC its like the 4 bolts up top and then 2 on the hub for the wheel. I think i used a coat hanger to hold up the hub while I worked on it.

From what I've read, the GT 500 mounts, along with the Steeda aftermarket mounts, still have the same thunk problem as the original. As far as I know, only the improved Ford mount stops the thunk noise.

I dropped the car off at the dealer this morning for the repair (warranty is effective until early November). I'm glad that I marked all the parts on the car to be removed, as none of the Ford service advisors (3 so far) have any knowledge or experience with this TSB.

I'll report back soon ... do a good job boys because I will be checking to make sure that new parts have been installed

Success! Everything went well ... no charge warranty repair and the thunk is gone and the car "seems" to drive better. Maybe it's psychological, but maybe the car drives better because it doesn't sound like the wheel is going to fall off anymore.

it probably is. The TSB is a distinct thunk or pop sound you hear as the front end pushes into a corner. Its from the flimsy strut mount flexing then popping back.
