hit a damn tire, advice?
So on the way to work this morning and on a turn with a car next to me in the other lane and theres a tire in the road. Definitely couldn't have stopped and didn't have much time to react. So I just lined it up hoping I could go over it and nailed it.
I assumed the worst, but it drove fine so I continued on. At work I got out and didn't see any major damage but at 6 am its a little dark. I come back out this afternoon and its a bit worse than I thought but not terrible.
Pictures first, a little explanation later
The piece hanging is sadly part of the main bumper that the chin fits into. The piece behind that is just a strip of rubber, easy fix. Hopefully I can push the chin back up and just cut back the hanging bit and call it a day.
I don't think its worth replacing the whole bumper, but any other thoughts?

Sorry to hear man. I had almost a similar scenario but I had enough time to swerve onto the shoulder to miss the tire debris. All I could think about was my chin getting smashed.
Kinda hard to tell from the picture since it's up close, but looks like you might be able to jerry rig it back together. Since it does not to be a noticeable part of the car unless you intentionally look under. Either that or take it into the shop and they might be able to repair it.

Ya I think I'll trim that piece back and just try to get the chin to pop back in. I was thinking about in the near future of getting a roush lower facia, but I was thinking a year from now.
I'm really surprised it wasn't worse

My car took a tire to the face on the freeway at about 60. I tried to straddle it and hoped for the best. Both the front and rear bumper had popped the bumper clips on the driver's side and there were massive black smears across the front. I popped the bumpers back in place at a gas station. Got home and rubbing compounded the black out. I do have an L shaped crack in the front bumper but I pushed it flush so it's not that noticeable. I do need a new turn signal though, one of the tabs broke. The tire even dented my muffler.
