Slight confusion with cutouts
Hey guys, really stupid but I'm still trying to figure out the electrical exhaust cutouts. Does it basically control the volume/tone of your exhaust? I'm trying to figure out if for example..
My current exhaust setup is SLP LMs + Off road H Pipe + Long tube headers and on a scale of 10 (being highest) the volume is 8. If i were to get the cutouts installed and with the flap closed, would it decrease the volume? Or does it just open up the headers and make it even louder?
Basically I'm looking for something that can quieten the exhaust at the flick of a switch because the set up i want is too loud to be run all the time..and if Im in the presence of cops, I'd switch it to make it

Cut-outs are designed to open up your exhaust system to bypass anything beyond the cut-out. They don't REDUCE volume. If anything, they typically make your exhaust louder by bypassing the muffs.

Think of it as a Y- at the tip of your headers. Closed cutouts would let the exhaust flow to whatever exhaust setup you have. Open the cutouts and you would have just open headers and would be VERY loud.
