Default Airbag lights when putting in non-side airbag seats.

I have searched high and low. It seems I can't find the correct answer.

So here is my set up.

I just did the GT500 swap, which I believe to have had side-airbags. My car does not have side airbags.

I swapped over the entire GT500 harness.

I plugged in the yellow caps.

I saw the harness had those plugs that are next to the side of the seats. I didn't know what those were until I started reading around, and discovered they are for the side sensors.

I used my older sensor box that is in the dash.

Thoughts on getting the light off?

Have you asked the dealer if they can reprogram the module to not recognize the side bags that are obviously missing? Worth a shot.

I say this because IIRC, the cheaper interior Mustangs of the same years didn't have side airbags.

I should be more specific. This is at least a 2007 harness and gt500 computer. Just the 2005 airbag computer.

Those should just be the occupancy sensors that your car's SRS computer is looking for. Did you EVER turn on the car or ignition while doing the seat install/removal?

I did this in my M3 years ago (to drive around with just my one seat with some friends, for the hell of it) and the SRS computer will record an occupancy sensor fault which will not reset by itself. If you just clear the code, the light should go away.

You were supposed to have the dealer copy the code from you current Cluster to the GT500 cluster. That is how I did it back on my 2006 V6 ... worked perfectly since my V6 had to airbags and no ABS either ...

That would only be correct if you were re-using your computer to get your as built data put in it. Right now my computer matches the cluster.

However, this basically is a complete GT500 minus the body and the VIN...

Not sure if your cluster is communicating with your ECM/PCM about airbag availability. There was an AIRBAG recall several years ago and everybody was worried about the Dealer flashing their tuned ECM's. Turned out that Ford was actually Flashing a different control module and not the ECM at all.

If the GT500 is communicating with the module that controls the airbags ... you still need to turn OFF the airbag flag in the GT500 cluster by loading it with the code from the cluster that came with your car.

I think you are confused still. The airbag module is a separate computer which was not changed. I think the guy above nailed it on the head. I remember the car was started without any seats in it, which I am sure what triggered the original code and since it won't go away by itself I won't know for sure, until I have that one cleared.

So I will have to wait till I get home to get it cleared and see if it comes back.

More to come.
