TOO MUCH!!!. so after the kooks LT and 3" h pipe and some dyno runs the final result is 455 hp and 439 torque. i do feel alittle lose in power cause of the power curve but it alot safer. bummer thou, i get a dyno tune and lose power!!!
That's the exact opposite from what I have read in the past. I guess the tuner you took your car too was a bit more conservative and wanted added insurance your engine would survive.

the tuner told me that the ford racing tune that came with the s/c was way too aggressive. the motor wasn't going to last. it was 420 hp at 3200 rpms.

I could be wrong, but I have yet to see an engine fail with the FRPP tune. This must have been a one time fluke. Well, there is a first time for everything, and it's good that you were not the first eh.

20 degrees seems a bit much. Is it 93 oct or 91? Was the FRPP tune made for 11 psi or something alittle less. By running lean and being a little high on timing, it makes me think the tune was more appropriate for 8 psi.

Mine seemed to like 17.5 degrees @10 psi. It made 475 rwhp and 450 something rwtq. I could have turned up the timing a little bit but decided since this is what I was supposed to drive on the street we kept it conservative. But it seems like I just don't have the time to swap my 15psi pulley for my 10 psi pulley. Wonder why . . .

i guess the tune was made for the 11 lb. boost. the kit came with a voucher and i registered thru ford racing my computer # and vin #. i run only 93 octane!! the tuner's name is Don LaSota. they say he travels all the the U.S. and tunes mustangs. i should of went more aggressive. i think nobody gets a dyno tune and loses power!!!! SUCKS!!!

Sometimes the peak number will go down, but the rest of the curve comes up. Look at your graph and see if they are different.

Wouldn't the Kooks LT's and 3" h-pipe cause a reduction in boost and thus power? Just wondering.

How is that even possible? You have diesel motor in there or something? :-)

I have about 270rwhp at 3,200 rpms... I don't hit 420rwhp until about 5,300rpms on the way up to 448rwhp at 6,400rpms.

Now I do have 400ft/lbs at 3,500rpms... you sure you weren't quoting TRQ numbers?

EDIT: Mine is a Saleen so I'm sure there are some power curve idiosyncrasies that cause some differences, but nothing like that.

FRPP went from a 500hp tune to a 550 a few years ago. The 550 tune has been dynoing high 400's at the wheels, like 470-480.

IIRC The last time I talked to FRPP they said 3 motors had failed with the frpp tune. Two of them were because of Ford parts defects and Ford warranty covered it.

Edit. The more I think about it I can't remember if it was frpp or whipple I was talking to.
