This a good deal?
Hi, first post here! Been looking for a Mustang for a while and think I found one I'm ready to pull the trigger on. Just wanting to get some feedback as to whether it's a good price or not.
2006 Mustang GT Premium
Manual
40k Miles
Excellent Condition
$15,900. It is from a dealer.
KBB prices:
trade in: 15.6
suggested retail: 20.6
Edmunds TMV: 14.8
Thanks!

Couldn't figure out how to modify the thread... But the other Mustang I've been looking at is an '05 GT Vert with 64k miles for 15.5k. A convertible isn't ultra important for me... just kind of a nice bonus I guess, I was just concerned with the mileage and it being the first production year.
Opinions?

Well let's just say that in March 2009 I paid $14700 for a 2007 premium V6 convertible with 15k miles on it from a dealer. That same car would probably go for less than $13k now easily. In conclusion, no not really a good deal. Sounds like the dealer is charging you retail value.

Read thru the list of TSB's in the stickies to this forum. There are a lot applicable to the 05'-'06 and some still extending into and beyond the '07s. The water leak TSB is a biggie and the car should be closely looked over with this in mind.
Depending on the area, $15.9k is a bit high IMO. For comparison, I paid $13.5k for an '06 V6 Pony Package with some interior upgrades with 9600 miles in mint condition in April 2009.

I got my '05 GT premium about a year ago for about the same price with 29K miles - few miles but a year older. Sounds like a good deal to me. That's better than you would find at someplace like Carmax for example.

40K is a bit high considering all the low mile mustangs out there to choose from, so you can probably shave off a more from that deal. Are there any other extras to the mustang? Security? Comfort? Interior upgrade? I paid about $18.3k last July for an '06.

Wasn't the water leak issue just a clogged hole where the cabin filter sits in the plenum? If it's in excellent condition I don't see why it's not a good deal though it's kinda difficult to get a feel from the previous owner on how well the car was treated/maintained when you buy used from a dealer. You just get a warm fuzzy when buying from a previous owner.

hard to tell without your zip but seems resonable, looked within 200 miles of little rock, stangs are keeping there value where your at.

My only issue atm is I am financing through Capital One and they are pretty picky - it has to be a dealer and only certain ones.
