Pypes Success...with slight fail
Like most here on the forums, I've read the Pypes horror stories, and the oddball good story.
I came across the Pypes Muffler Delete Axle Back made of polished 304 Stainless Steel for $155 shipped. Gotta love eBay.
Got them installed today...and wow. I had no idea a S197 could snarl like that. The exhaust is loud, but bearable with the windows up. My Stang sounds mean. And I don't mean, "oh look, another Mustang with a loud exhaust". I mean, "what the hell is under the hood of that thing" kind of mean.

Is there a M90 in the future? Hope so
Now for the fail: Pypes welded the passenger pipe hanger so the tip hangs down 2" farther than the drivers side. I've got all of the adjustment done that is possible, still a pretty big difference. So I'll visit a local exhaust shop to get the weld corrected so the tips hang correctly. Figure about $50 for 5 seconds of welding.
So if you want a loud snarling Mustang, give the Pypes a try. They sound like an old carb'd big block. And the downshift noise is addicting. It's especially nice they don't sound like every other run of the mill Flowmaster as well.

I have their mid muffler setup, and had it welded in. The exhaust guy said he would never want to custom fit another one. Mine looks as if it was molded to the car now, but he had to make a lot of changes. Glad I don't have to worry about clamps coming loose either. Pypes has a great sound, but their fitment sucks. They are cheap because they mass produce bends that are not correct.

Thats the same system I have and I have the same issue that the driver side is perfect and the pass side hanger puts the tip too low. Im just too lazy to cut-off and reweld the hanger to move it up the needed 1/2 inch.

Muffler deletes ARE too loud IMO and they do indeed scream "Look at me, another mustang with a leery exhaust".
I know this, I have them too but after trying them for 10 minutes I went back to FRRP pipes and only use the muffler deletes on the track.
The trouble is there is no middle ground with them, they are rumbly at idle and neutral throttle but the clatter out the back at anything over 25% gas is horrific.
i don't know what the laws regarding mufflers are in your state but be careful, muffler deletes are hard to hide.

Love my violators sound....very old school. Wouldn't want louder personally and yea, they fit for sh^t! Be prepared for a trip to the local shop for final fit. If you don't have to, you are the luckiest sob on the planet!

these deletes are quieter than my Magnapacks were, so I'm happy about that. My 03 GT with those Magnapacks would set off car alarms at anything over 2,000 RPM in a parking lot. The deletes don't really get "loud" until over 3,500 rpm
I'm happiest about the old school snarl though. you just don't get that anymore with EFI vehicles. I'll give it a week before I decide 100% if they stay or not, but for now they make me happy.
wonder if there is any interest in my FRPP GTB's?
