Alright guys, what do you think. The 1969 Mustang GT's, and other 60's model, have become classics and actually went up in value. Do you think the 2011 Mustang GT will become a classic and raise in value 30-50 years from now?

The 05-09 stands a better chance of that and I doubt even THEY will be considered classics.

My thoughts exactly. The 05-09 have more of the retro styling of the older Mustang's. Yes, the 2011 Mustang GT has some aspects of the older ones, but you could also tell that it has been modernized. I'm still torn between getting a 2009 Mustang GT or the 2011 Mustang GT 5.0?

with the high production numbers of todays cars i can see anything really being considered a classic like you look at older classic cars today. the special editions stand a better chance but even so the 'age' of the classic has come and gone i think. in 50 years vehicles will have take a completely new turn. they wont be on roads anymore, think back to the future type stuff will be more reality then.

Bottom line never buy a car to be an investment. drive it like it was meant to be used and enjoy it, its just a waste of money otherwise!

Yeah, I think that's sad to be honest. I'm looking at all these new cars, the hybrids, SmartCars, all these electric-cars, and they just don't seem as fun as the muscle cars, I don't they'll ever be! BTW, your Mustang is beautiful. You are one lucky guy my friend. So question, if you had a choice, between the 09 GT or the 11' GT 5.0, which one would you choose?

Are you suggesting jetpacks? Because I'm tired of being told I'm going to have a jetpack. They ain't ever gonna give me a damn jetpack.

In a nutshell, 50 years from now...yes. 50 years is a long time. 50 years ago from today, we still had those giant, roadsters on the road, those fancy looking Fords and Chevy's. The 60's Mustangs are 40 something years old and they're all considered classics.

We see a lot of these cars NOW, but...50 years from now will be completely different. That's quite a long time. I think they will easily be considered classics.

And...to the guy above me, get the 11. I personally didn't like the 05-09 interior and style, but the 10-11 fixed everything wrong with the old car.

Long answer: The 2011 represents the evolution of the Mustang. Most powerful GT and Base models Ford has ever made, and they represent Ford at its best. The 2011 fixes "most" of the flaws of previous Mustangs, and is the first Mustang that excels in a straight line and on the curves. Also, the 5.0 represents what Ford engineers can do when left to make decisions without the typical red tape.

Short answer....yes
