Well I have finally decided, and seeing that I am a creature of comfort I am going with the 5.0. I'm having trouble finding one with my preferences though and have been thinking of building one from the ground up. I understand the dealership requires a $5,000 deposit in order for them to get the order in. For those who did this, how long did it take before you guys received your car?

I haven't heard of anyone paying a 5k deposit. Like at all.

What?? My dealer did not require a deposit of any kind to order a car for me in 2009 for the 2010. I stopped in a few weeks back to discuss a 2011 and again....he stated to let him know what I wanted and they would put the order in just like the last time....which required no deposit.

Seriously. Sounds like they're setting you up for something. Imagine if you cancelled your order . . .

"Oh sorry, only 50% of that is refundable since we're already invested time into this order."

Thanks guys. It did seem awfully shady when he said that. The dealership is in Glendale so I was expecting it lol. Back to my other question though, how long does it usually take before an order gets to the dealership?

I'm more impressed with what people build on their own, than fork out cash for something someone else built.
You and I think alike. And we live in the same area.

Have you thought about going the 6 route. From what i hear/have been told they are cheaper on gas and your insurance will be lower.

Sorry to hijack this thread guys I just have a question ?
I have never bought a new car from a dealership and I was wondering if someone could guide me in the right direction ?
I plan on ordering my Mustang and from what I saw from the previous replies you guys said that just to put a order in there is no deposit needed? My second question is. Do you negotiate the price of the car once the car arrives and then you pay for it or you can negotiate the price of the car at the same time you put the order in and settle on the price and when the car arrives you just pay the aggregated amount ?
Thanks a lot for anybody taking the time help me not being robed by the stealership
