2009 Saleen or 2011 5.0?
 

As some of you might have recalled, I was involved in an accident 3 months ago that had totaled my car. After much legal wrangling I have finally received my check in the mail. I've narrowed my choices down to two vehicles that I am considering purchasing: a 2009 Torch Red S281 or a Racing Red 2011 5.0 Now here is where I have my dilemma. I've never gotten used to the new body styling of the 2010+ models but slowly but surely have gotten to like it. I love the electronics package and the return of the 5.0 but I love the Saleen as well. I really put off buying a first year vehicle when they drop due to the issues and bugs that they might have, which is what might turn me off from purchasing the 5.0 even though technically it's in the second year of production, first year for the Coyote. So what would any of you do if placed in my position? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry for the rambling.

As many others are sure to say. get the Saleen, i dont really know how to say this but it will be "rarer" plus its a friggen saleen

is the Saleen SC? If not, def go for the 5.0

Probably the saleen if its supercharged. If not, I wouldn't even consider it.

id take the 5.0, mainly cause of the body style..

Saleen, I thought they all came supercharged unless there is some type of appearance package like the Roush...

Definitely the '09 Saleen, mainly because of the body style.

5.0. Better resale (although new car depreciation is terrible). Upgraded interior.

As you'd expect, people will always respond with a bias toward the cars they themselves own, perfectly natural.

Personally I see your dilemma for what it is and without bias I'll tell you what I think. I won't buy a 2011 5.0 but I would, in principle get a 2012. I'm not against the new car at all.

Supercharged or not, the Saleen will always be the most desirable car of the two. Plus, it will be holding it's value better than a first gen 5.0 will even hope to and at some point the residual value lines of both will crossover.

Now the 5.0 is a new car, can't deny the attraction there, and it's a 5.0, if that even means something to you.
IMO the new model is ugly although even my brain is accepting it slowly and yes, I do see the odd One which tweaks me.
However there are two main downers with the 5.0;
- It's the 1st gen and we are reading of issues already and for sure we'll run into more as time unfolds.
- Every man and his dog are buying them now. Even to the point that it's quickly become a boring thread subject on the boards as folk say "look at my new 5.0"

The fact that you are even looking at the Saleen as an option tells me you like to be a little different from the hordes, I'm not convinced that you having "another Red 5.0' will be particularly satisfying to you.........
