MPGs on my Virginia to Florida trip

There's a difference between using the transmission to control your speed on a long downgrade via engine compression vs actively using the tranny to slow down as you come to a stop in normal traffic (by downshifting) instead of using the brakes.
The first will keep you from overheating and fading your brakes, and if you think that you can't fade the OE brakes - think again. If you've never experienced brake fade, don't assume that it can't happen. If you want 'scary', needing brakes when they aren't there will give it to you.
It's the second one that trades brake life for tranny life, with no advantage for doing do.
How might a cop know if you're coasting? Your engine exhaust note will give it away, so all he has to do is listen. Especially to cars that are commonly made to sound louder than OE.
Never mind that "getting away with it anyway" still does not make it right or that it's a smart thing to do. Either for you, or even more importantly for any other person who stumbles across this discussion.

On my trip from Boston-Florida a few weeks ago, i averaged in the high 30's the whole way through...really suprised at the good gas mileage this car can get...now im back drivin in the city and stuck at the 19-22 range lol

I'm not even sure that the Mustang has the right aerodynamics to do what I'm thinking of.

Then my car lied to me...all i know is when i filled my tank it read 400+ miles to empty, and when i went for a refill it was over 400 miles driven and i still could have driven longer, and the avg mpg read over 30...either way, i got really good mileage and was happy

Over 30 as in 30.1 or in the high 30's as you stated previously? And who were you drafting? Sorry but I find over 28-29 average, pump-to-pump, on a 4.6L tough to believe. Maybe with a good 80 MPH tail wind.

I dont remember the exact number, but it was high...i just went to the speed limit, set the cruise control and cruised...i only filled up 4 times(technically 3.5 because i got to my destination with a half tank left) if the computer was mis-leading, oh well, i still got great mileage, if it wasnt, thats even better

O.k. I'm going to the mountains tomorrow and this is my question. When I got my car she had this rubber on her 255/55/17s' and now she has 255/45/18s' with a 10x9 rims. What air pressure should I put in her? My mustang shop saids 50 lbs of air where as my place of work saids the same as the door jam saids even if she is a different tire. Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Oh by the way I'm going to the blue ridge parkway and I'm excited. I can't wait to eat the hills with my 4.10 gears. I have basically a stock car with the regular list that includes: Steeda Underdrive Pullys, C/L CAI-Brenspeed tuned, Mac Prochamber with cats (I actually got more power), Mac Axlebacks and 4.10 gears. Got the American Muscle strut bar with doubts and it drives so much better. Anyway tell me what air pressure is best. Most of the travel will be on the interstate from Summrville, South Carolina to Asheville, North Carolina.
