Shadow Painted GT Fan Blades, Before, After and After that too

Hi guys,
New to modding and I'm also a per paycheck modder (every paycheck gets a new mod).
I drive a 2008 V6 Alloy.
Recently I found a set of used 18" 2006 GT Fan Blades.
Well they were beat up a bit so I decided to paint them.
Like many before me I painted the center of the blades black while leaving the rest chrome.
After getting it done I was impressed on how it changed the car but I could still see the wear and tear and it didn't really look finished.

So I found a paint SET called Shadow Chrome. Turns out it's transparent black with a clear coat. I saw that on the package and immediately knew that's what I wanted.

TLDR - My rims are pretty now - look at pictures:icon_redcam:

Before Shadow Paint but after I painted the blades' interior black.

During - This shows back wheels with Shadow paint over chrome and front with just the black.

Finished Wheel *It's a little dusty from the road* - though I plan to replace the silver lugs with black ones so just the Pony emblem is highlighted.

Finished Product :icon_woot:

And since I had some paint left and wanted to work with a theme :D
I painted my rear emblem and my front grille Pony with the transparent black paint and it came out amazing!

Again this is dirty from the road and I have construction near my house. :(

I have read around the forums for folks that were looking for some unique custom options and I hope this helps a bit.

Let me know what you all think.

when the paint wears off you should get them powder coated. They look good thhough

Not bad, I thought about doing the same to my fan blades but I like how they look.

You know that was my one big worry...but I'll say that clear coat I liberally sprayed on them seems to be holding up pretty well.

Now if there was just an Anti Dirt-road coating repellent on the market...

I like the look of the fanblades before you shadowed them. I think all dark wheels just look... dark.

Ummmm, I don't care for the black painted look at all. Fan Blades look great just the way Ford installed them originally.

If YOU like them that is all that matters (but you did ask).

I personally like the blacked-out fanblades. Good job.

You know I really did like the original look but, I don't think my initial work was clean enough (bad lines and such) and not to mention the rashes and what not were just so noticable to me I didn't really have much of a choice on my budget.
Overall I'm very happy with how they turned out and am warming up to the dark on dark look.

+1 I'd love to do that to my car if I find some fanblades cheap

I love how the fanblades come stock but, they look pretty good painted as well. Get rid of that ding strip :)
