Vortech v3 vs Roush M90
Hi All so I thinking about taking off the vortech v3 standard kit which with a custom tune on a 2007 Mustang Gt automatic made 390 rwhp and 360tq at 5900 rpms on 7.9 psi on 20"s now I ordered a 3.60 pulley my tuner says to stay with my current setup and just up the boost to 9psi 10psior 11psi and reutune here in Nevada where it's a little warm specially without an intercooler. I was thinking about pulling the whole setup and placing the roush setup in its place and selling the vortech. The vortech is an sq

i would keep the Vortech and get the IC.
it has much more room to grow, whereas the M90 does not.
the M90 is great for what it does, but it seems like you are wanting more power and the M90 will only go so far.
the Vortech will get you more in the long run.

my tuner says that we should just do the 3.6 pulley for now no intercooler try it out see if its more and if it is then spend all the money for an intercooler and go to a 3.44 pulley.

Can I get by without the intercooler for now, since its cooled down so much and see how it runs with more boost. Also how do I get it to spin up more.

Ya, with the cooler temps now you should be ok. Your Vortec needs to hit around 3000rpms to start making boost. The trick is to find out how close you can come to that rpm level without spinning the tires at launch. With a auto trans its hard unless you have a trans brake or a high stall torque converter. Also, make sure you have OD turned off

Since the non-intercooled Vortech typically puts out more power than an M90, I would say that swap makes little sense. If you were going to swap blowers to gain more power, going for the Roush 2300 or a Whipple/Saleen/etc would make much more sense.
I agree with these guys, add the Vortech charge cooler and up the boost, and you'll make probably 450 rwhp.

Also not sure If I can get by without a Mafio with the difference in the amount of boost a 3.6 makes over the 3.8, also what kind of power difference should I see from the 3.8 making 7.9 boost to the 3.6 not sure what boost it will be making if anyone knows that would be useful information.
