Need some help with CDC Shaker...
A couple of quick question's to the wise..
I've been thinking about picking up a CDC shaker for my 07 stang gt (smooth hood, no fake intake). I have a Steeda cold air intake that I plan to keep, and I am planning on making an enclosed airbox to ensure that all the air is from the outside, and not just partly from the intake. (Basically I'm going to use the Steeda half box as a template and add 3 more sides)
1) anyone wish they had not done this mod after doing it?
2) do you think that there would be enough air would be sucked/forced into the intake to satisfy the Steeda's needs?
3)if at a later date, could I put in a Saleen Shakercharger in its place? (Without having to get a new hood.)
4) can you actually hear the air being sucked in, or is more of a visual effect?
Thank's guy's. I'll sit back and listen...

Shaker, Baker.
Been done many times over.
Search and see...
It will restrict the flow. Not a lot but
it would be like going backwards.
I dont have a Shaker, just a CAI and I
experience IATs 6 degrees higher than AATs.
I hear the air getting sucked in when its coming at me WOT.
Not too shabby for an off the shelf Roush CAI.
Do this instead.
WMS
Now thats functional.

1. No, I've never regretted installing the Shaker. Just took a while before I cut my new hood.
2. I'd not completly box off the Steeda intake, and if you don't seal it to the hood you will get enough air to feed the Steeda.
3. The Supershaker will fit the same cutout as the standard Shaker. No personal experience, just what I've found from extensive research.
When I clean my filter, I see a dirty circle where my Shaker feeds into my JLT CAI, but it does not supply all the air going into the CAI.
I can hear my CAI when getting on it, but no noise comes from the actual Shaker.
I attached a pic showing how I've ducted the Shaker into the JLT shroud. I used aircraft ducting called SCAT.

I love my Shaker Hood!! No regrets at all ... and the Super Shaker uses the same hole for when I win the lottery and I'm ready to upgrade!!
No matter what your configuration I think the Scoop only supplies a small amount of air to your intake. I have the factory setup so it is pulling it from both the shaker and the factory opening behind the grill ...
FYI ... For the Super Shaker 100% of the air for the Super Charger is being sucked in through the Shaker scoop.

No regrets here...
The shaker is mainly an appearance mod. You combine it with a CAI and you may get a slight boost in performance but nothing that's going to snap your head back. I'm old school and I am going for the "looks" and never expected any performance boost from it. Also, if you look around eBay you may find one for around $500.00 like I did.

My answers:
1) LOVE my shaker! No regrets at all. Would do it again if I was starting over. Get more compliments on it than any other mod I have.
2) Aircare84 suggested not boxing off your intake, may be a good idea to ensure enough air would always be available. I have a JLTII which doesn't seem to seal the filter like the Steeda so was not a worry for me.
3) Supposed to fit - I had asked the same question for mine and received responses from people with experience stating it fits.
4) Not much while driving. If standing outside the car when throttled and not moving, can hear it a bit.
I know it is an appearance mod more than a performance mod, but I love it and would make it one of the first mods I did if I was starting over. It was a bit nerve-wracking to install (well, making that first cut was anyway) but is actually very easy to install.

airbox to ensure that all the air is from the outside."
He was talking about sealing off the CAI filter box and feeding it directly from
the shaker. Look at the pic below. The cold air tube from the shaker is
SMALLER than the air intake tube on the CAI going to the TB.
Thats the backwards I was talking about.
No sleep deprivation here. Reread the
original post and then get back to me...
