Default installed my HID's but...

Ok so i put in my HID's from Retro solutions. And there are a few things i have noticed so can someone help tell me if this is normal...?

1) They say on a tad longer after i shut my ballasts off from the inside... meaning i switch them off and they dont actually shut off until a few seconds later.

2) When i unlock my car my headlights switch on and i can now not lock my car back up until the HID's power down. Then I can lock it.

3) once i unlock my car and the headlights come on and i start my car they turn off (like normal) but then when i go to switch them on they dont come on... sometimes.

This is nothing big but just little things that i guess i have to just adjust to it.

But other then that they look awesome, I can actually see at night time now with my headlights tinted haha

Here is my experience... I have the 5000K set from them too... They are designed to have that delay after powering off to avoid "restriking" too soon... This is ok.

As far as the problem with locking, I don't have DRL or illuminated entry so mine will only come on when I physically flip the switch. Sorry I don't have any insight with that...

The last issue with them not turning on everytime is something I have been experiencing too... Previously I would only have to turn the switch off for 30 seconds and try again and that was it took. It has gotten progressively worse, even to the point of turning off while driving (luckily I still have my fog lights), but came back on by themselves, almost like a thermal overload. I am waiting for to get my car back from the body shop so I can call Retro Solutions for some help. If you figure it out, post back.

Don

i think i will give them a call also to figure it out.

Maybe it is possible to turn off the setting that controls flipping on the lights upon entry....

at least i am not the only one experiencing all this haha thanks

As far as the lights coming on with locking/unlocking, you should be able to disable that feature. It's in the OM under the security system.

Did you use a relay harness? I had to get one for my step dads truck since he has DRLs. Post pics!

On my car the HIDs do not come on when unlocking, the fogs come on instead. Guess Ford didn’t think it was a good idea to cycle the HIDs a zillion times for no reason.

The HID manufacturers didnt think it was a good idea to short cycle HIDs, period.
Not good, not good at all for HIDs. Early death is all that can come of that.

HIDS dont like to be switched on then off then on again.
I am sure there is a time delay feature in the ballasts.
Disable the lock/healight flash and or perimeter lighting
or your HIDs will go south for the winter asap.
Depending on how you wired them is probalby directly
linked to the problems you are having.
