2012 Boss 302 priced at approximately $40,000

If people will stand in line to pay $80k for a friggin Mazda Miata in 1990 (yes they did) then I don't see any problem the dealers will have unloading these at that or more. Heck, the original super-snakes were selling for $140k here in vegas. The new GT350 will probably sell for $120k

I, obviously, couldn't do that with my current salary but when you are making 600k a year and you want to be the first guy in town to own a boss 302, You'll slap down 80k no problem. It's a premium for bragging rights.
And there are PLENTY of people with that kind of money and a love for Stangs.

it is the same reason some people will shell out $1.4+MM for an original shelby cobra - rarity. low production volume will translate to high demand. most likely you'll be able to buy a stock 5.0, put a few mods in to it and have a better performing car than the boss 302. but it won't be a boss 302. not now or ever. supply and demand is a b_tch, ain't she?

I guess I'm an idiot. I'd pay about $5K over sticker but no more. For what it's worth I have a friend that owns an original 1969 Mach 1 with a 428 Cobra Jet and it's worth multiples of what it originally cost. And I thought he was an idiot when he paid $18K for it back in 1989. While I don't expect the same thing with the 2012 Boss 302 I suspect it will hold it's value as well as or better than any Mustang made in the past two decades.
BTW I started a thread on the Boss 302 pricing here.

I'm not admitting it at all. Which would you rather drive, a 1969 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet or diapers? Your analogy is idiotic. Nobody said anything about investments. My investments will pay for the Boss 302 and I said it will hold it's value better than other Mustangs. Nowhere did I say it's an investment.

Heck, if it was on my wish list, I'd pay 50-55k. It's not, so I won't but that's not the point.
I paid $150 over sticker for the nintendo wii the first year it came out. It's really the same thing. You pay... or you don't get the toy.

The cars will be high that is no doubt but remember these will be limited to 2 years at 4000 per year. It wont be like the shelby where they make them every year and you can just wait till the hype wears off because they will all be gone. Im not saying its fair or a good thing but i can see people easly paying 25-30K over MSRP just to get one. There are guys here in vegas that pay 70K for a shelby when they first came out. I remember looking at one, was black with all the goodies. The salesman asked me if i was interested and at the time i could not afford it and he said well thats good because a guy just bought this one. I asked how much and he said 70K cash. That was when they had the rediculously high mark up on them the first year of production. Now they are usually selling for MSRP and nothing more or less.
