Default 07 man shifter creak

07 GT. Shifter makes a creak as I slide it out of first - can feel slight friction as the sound comes. Is this something that can be lubed? Details?

Also, has anyone ever been able to soften up the std genuine imitation leather shift boot so it doesn't make noise? Especially when cold and in 3rd and 5th gears for me.

thanks.

Sounds like the shifter itself is failing, do you rest your hand on the shifter when driving? If so that is your problem. You shouldn't do that on remote mount shifters because you're "crushing" the vibration absorbing bushing and decreasing the life of your shifter.

OEM shift boot is a POS, when you take if off, you can look thru the stitching, not sure whats its made out of.....I ordered a custom leather boot from http://www.redlinegoods.com/ Heres a pic of mine, got rid of that noise and looks so much better.

that looks good. looking at yours, and the instructions at redline, I might have different boot trim - mine's billett and boot fits under/inside it. Or is the same?
