Default new addition to the trunk family! pic

well i got HID's and with every hit of the sub the lights dimmed and drove me nuts, also the amp would randomly shut off... so i bought a cap (now i know most say they are useless for some instances) but i am not looking for a high wattage power save all, just something fast cheapest and easy to install that will keep the light dimming to a minimal.

Installed it and test drove it and love it. The lights no longer dim as much if at all, the amp did still randomly shut off... but i think that was due to the way it was tuned so i re tuned it but have not test drove it yet after that, so we will see if that works.

It is the planet audio 3.5 farad capacitor, black edition

(yes i know the cap in the pic is reading 11.9 but the car was off haha, when on it reads 14.4+ so all is good.)

she is a beast also, HUGE, i was not expecting this model to be this massive!

I'm not a HID man because I think they blind oncoming traffic.
Trunk looks great though!

I ended up selling all my audio stuff, just a headache. If your amp is shutting off sounds like too much draw on the amp.

Understand what you are doing before you
do it and boast about it on the forum..
You have to ugrade the pump, not make the bucket bigger.
Caps are only good for voltage drops from the battery to the amps.

You stock alternator and new HIDs
are headed to a very early grave.

(HIDs dont dim with voltage drop by design, must be cheapos)

I've been driving with RetroSolutions HIDs in my '06 GT 'vert for years. I have yet to be "flashed". I think if you use a reasonably powered kit, and have your lights aimed properly that there is no problem blinding other drivers. I would never give my HIDs up.

Properly setup HID's won't blind incoming traffic. In fact, most will be less of a distraction, as they can be aimed lower because they light up the road much better.

157dB is correct, you are killing the components in your car basically

my hid"s are from retro solutions so they are not cheap.

They are capped so no blinding traffic, and my lights are tinted so not to bright.

and what is the problem now? what should i upgrade?... if the cap fixed the voltage drop then what is the issue now?

your a kool guy in all, i enjoy your posts most of the time, but you dont need to be a dick man. Not boasting, just proud of my setup.

With that said...

wasnt the voltage problem from the battery to the amp? so wouldnt the cap in fact fix that...

if you are drawing too much, you need a new alternator

Personally I never understood why people put huge subs in their trunk, seems like a waste of space
