Look for the CARB sticker to be sure. Most of the loud exhausts are technically illegal.

Just slap them on and take them off for emissions. Nobody is going to hassle you.

If you see a hunk of **** driving down the road with a loud exaust there is probably gonna be more going on in that car, looking at it from a cops perspective.

Wrong. The Steeda one for the 05-09 Mustang GT was used by Ford Racing and comes with a CARB sticker.

Yes in 49 States. And SLP makes a Powerflow that is legal in CA but not the loudmouths. And they sound bad anyways.

Just make sure whatever you buy says 50 state legal (any item that states this should come with a CARB sticker) and you're good to go. And, kind of off topic, but does anyone know why cops hassle cars with loud exhaust, but don't ever do anything about those bikes with the ear-bleedingly loud exhaust?

I believe cops won't hassle bikes as much because they are less likely to stop for the cop. Cars can't split lanes or accelerate near as quickly as motorcycles. If your on a busy street and try to stop a motorcycle, they can split a couple cars and be gone. The cars in the way rarely ever move for cops in LA

SLP LM's state they are street legal but in a state that requires actual mufflers on the vehicle, like NC, they won't pass inspection. Unless you go to someplace incompetent like Jiffy Lube for your inspection, mine has passed the last 2 years since they don't bother looking for mufflers. I used to put the mufflers back on as it only takes me about half an hour to swap them.

Thanks, but were not talking about 05-09. Several other companies had carb approval for 05-09 as well. Roush and Airaid as an example, neither of which have 2010+ certification. I believe it was 2008 that carb changed the law to any open element filter not being legal in CA. So CAI kit's certified before '08 would be approved, but post would not. Steeda's website doesn't say anything about their '10 or '11 being CARB approved:

Although the 2008 Bullitt comes with the FRPP CAI stock and I have one on my 2008 with its accompanying CARB sticker. Its not the CAI alone but the FRPP tune as well which gets the sticker. The rear O2s need to be ready come inspection time. My FRPP tune is what gets installed when I "return to stock".

well not too many bikers are smuggling dope, illegal immigrants or who knows what.
Cops prefer to pull over cars because there's much more serious illegal stuff they are likely to find.
They have started doing roadside inspections in some areas because of the outlaw bikers (cruisers or sportbikers) who make too much noise. I support it as I like to eat lunch outdoors down the street from a big Harley dealership and they ride by so loud that I've seen babies scream and people cover their ears!
Noise polluters need to be hassled until they get the message.
