How much power can stock crankshaft handle?

The word is about 450 RWHP, but that may not be the crank; could be whatever the weak link is in the entire engine/drive train. After that you're pushing your luck but as long as you're not on it all the time you'd probably be ok.

Being the FRPP H.O. Whipple kit puts anywhere from 451 to 467RWHP depending on drive train loss I would assume more then 450RWHP.

Nobody has found out. I did my motor build with a stock crank. The only failure I'm aware of happened at over 7000 rpm with short stroked drag motor. The high rpm was theorized to have caused the failure. The stock crank is very strong but it lacks two center counterweights that are on the cobra (kellog) crank.

I'm making 536 RWHP and it hasnt poped yet! Though I am counting my blessings at this point. I have heard that the Crank is pretty strong. From what I was told if you wanted to build on a budget, some shops take out the rotating assembly and replace the connecting rods, then call them good to 600. But yeah, the crank is strong but the connecting rods are weak.

yeah I was planing on going with forged rotating assmeby. Just wanted to ask around and see what the crank would hold up to.. If the crank is good for 550-600 rwhp I can save my self $800 and spend it on other upgrades lol.

Forged cranks shouldn't cost 800 bucks.

Thee are companies that build forged motors with cast cranks (AKA STOCK) and rate them for 650 BHP. Take that for what it's worth.

Why are you asking?

OK, I didn't read that post before I typed my prior one.

I would not spend several thousand dollars, I'm guessing 5k or more, and cheap out on a crank. If the crank fails, kiss the rest of the assembly good bye.
