You should be able to lift a lead to one or the other with the car running and the car should never skip a beat.
Yeah I'm skeptical of that too... it stands to reason that the battery would be dead eventually and the car wouldn't restart if that were the issue.
I took the car to Advance Auto Parts to have the battery and alternator tested, and even the manager there said that he didn't think it would be a battery/alternator issue because the battery seems to hold a charge enough to restart the car whenever the engine cuts out.

I'm not ruling out electrical completely, but I'm kind of at a loss right now. I have heard that a bad ECU can cause problems like this, though... anyone think that's a possibility?

Mine started dying as I was driving even with a healthy battery; brand spanking new, moments right after I installed it.

Since the check engine light is on after the re-start have you pulled the code? What is it?

Good point. Anything beyond 35,000 miles and it's worth changing. Not a hard DIY.

Talked to the tech guy at the dealership, he said its probably not the fuel pump because when those go bad, they just die... meaning that the car wouldn't run fine sometimes and then act up, it just wouldn't run.

He actually said that there's potential that it could be the throttle body malfunctioning... he said that happens occasionally and could cause the engine to cut out due to starvation of oxygen...

I dont know what the error code is because I reload my tune as soon as I can after each incident because the car feels sluggish until I do. I am going to leave the C/E light on next time and take it in to have the dealer check the code I guess...
