Ha, same here. Have shown many people that it works, and that's always they're question back, "How the hell does that work?" I have no idea. Magic, I suppose.

Holly bouncing jelly beans Batman! It works!
But back to topic. I have the same issue with my 06 GT. Walking into work, want to make sure I've locked the car, and walk all the way back. just found it to be slightly annoying. Never thought about replacing it. If I did, only one way to go. Viper.

Jeremy Clarkson demonstrated this on Top Gear a while back:

more than likely the antenna for the radio is in the end of the fob opposite the key

Ha ha. That's pretty much the same reaction I've gotten over the years when I've shown people. Although the mystery remains, how does it work? I'm still sticking with Magic. But anyway to the OP, try it out I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.

Yeah, the same with my 06. It's really annoying because several times when the weather is nasty out I have to walk back outside in the rain/sleet/blah to lock it. Since usually I just park on the curb, no point in my house is close enough.

The keyfob is an omnidirectional antenna. That means that, perpendicular to the axis of the antenna, the radiated beam goes out in all directions. Your throat acts as a reflector of sorts for RF energy, forcing the beams going back towards your throat to bounce back in the direction of the car. It's not what I'd call an efficient reflector... I'd say maybe 20% of the beam actually gets relfected, but it's enough to give a functional range increase to the fob.

And don't worry, the fob doesn't put out near enough energy to cause any concern about irradiating yourself. It has maybe 1/50th the power of a cellphone.
