Most powerful nsr cams?
#11
I spoke with someone at Brenspeed (I don't want to say who) to inquire about Detroit Rocker cams. From the write-ups of various NSR & SPR cams it looks like Detroit Rockers claim to have even more power than comp stage II SPRs. I asked, "Why, then, would anyone really want the stage II's?" He said, "I don't know". He then repeated what the write-up on the site said, that you could get 40rwhp with longtube exhaust.
Also, for anyone interested, since I have stock exhaust I asked if there was any harm in getting cams with stock exhaust. He said it's no problem, and that either cams OR LTs should get 20 rwhp on their own without the other. So it's a toss up for which way to go first.

I know I am pissed about that, cause maybe a few years down the road when Im in college I might go FI and I wanted a vortech or paxton! =/

no its not impossible, i know a couple people that have. but most times with most bolt ons and LTs you are around 320ish. So you have to pic up around 25-30 HP to get to 350. NSR cams can do it but you have to get a good tune.

But look.... I dont have UDP's or delete plates either.
PLUS about a week after the dyno I had to have my tranny replaced.
I had teeth missing in several places.
The car drove fine and I had no idea of the problem.
All I knew is after the install of the cams I heard a knocking noise.
I did not have it BEFORE I took the car in to get the work done but
I am guessing the cams could have made the noise come into play
where I could not hear it before.
Given that... my car COULD have had those tranny problems when it was
on the dyno. If so... then I would probably get lower HP numbers.
I know that I did get a gain of 40rwhp with the cams, longtubes, and x pipe though so the gains were great.

Wow yeah I would blame the tranny issue because 315rwhp for all of that just doesnt seem right. Like howarmat just said full bolt ons (intake, longtubes, x pipe, tune and sometimes udps, put down around 320. I would put some udps on it and have it re dynoed cause I bet anything you will put down more than that.
No UDP's or Delete plates.
Really that is not very low.
5HP lower than usual but heck 5hp could have been from something as
simple as the fact that it was over 100 degrees that day. (Which it was)
Plus I have 4.10's and that can make the dyno read a little lower on hp
than stock gears.
I was running 275RWHP before the cams and other things went on.
I DID have the CAI already on at that point.
Like I said the dyno read 315 after the install so that is a 40RWHP increase
right on the nose.

I was debating among Detroit Rockers, Hot Rods and Comp NSR Stage 2. Detroirt Rockers looked promising but I have a diablo and Brenspeed doesn't make tunes for the diablo and I think they are the only ones that can tune for those cams. I then contacted AM/Bama about the Hot Rods and Comp. I forgot who I talked to but he said if take my car to the track, then Comp would be the better choice. I also talked to a friend that had hot rods installed. He said he made good power but he had to re-learn how to use the clutch. I went with Comps. These cams have a mild lope, but D/D is stock like. With delete plates and a dyno tune, I dynoed 319hp/304 tq on a mustang dyno, which would be about 345/325 on a dyno jet. I would like to get those numbers confirmed on a dyno jet though.
