Because the SCT does not display emission system monitor status which consists of the self testing of the EVAP, 02's, heated catalyst etc. You need drive time after loading a new tune or disconnecting the battery to reset the system monitors. The testing station will fail you every time for clearing codes then not doing a drive cycle afterwards to reset the system monitors.

Antifoulers screw into your converter bungs and act as a spacer to pull the 02's further away from the exhaust flow. It helps people with headers and cams pass because with headers and cams the exhaust flows more readily than the stock ECM was programmed to see.

Thank you, I understand that now. I see the reader on Amazon for ~$60 and the anti-foulers for $15 at Brenspeed so I'll pick those up.

As for cats, do I have to spend the extra $80 on Metallic versus Ceramic? I'm only using them to pass the test then they'll be taken back off.

If you don't plan on supercharging the car the ceramics will do just fine.

Thanks, after reading your other post I won't be leaving them in beyond emissions anyway due to my cams.
