Default Chirping sound while driving?!

I'm not sure if this only happens when it rains, but I think everytime some water gets to the engine bay all I hear is a rather annoying chirping sound coming from the engine.

It gets louder as I press the gas harder. I'm thinking it has something to do with the belt? Do i need to replace it? How do I get rid of the sound of a dyeing bird in my engine?!

thanks in advance!

If it is a very short an distinct chirp, and it happens right when you let off your clutch when you are up shifting, that is your engine telling you it is baddass! LOL

For a chirp that is long and sounds like you are choking a crow, then it most likely is your belt, or one of your pulley wheel bearings gave up the ghost and your belt is rubbing on a now frozen stuck wheel. Your belt will pop off soon.

Other than that, I cannot guess what your under-the-hood birds are caused from.

Can you post a vid with your car making the chirping?

Have you checked to make sure you do not have actually birds in your engine compartment? Wouldn't that be trippy.

Thats only because for me the image of a bird in the engine bay is through the grill...and if that happened there would be no chirping

But it might still be alive. Poor birdy.

It keeps saying that I am posting a duplicate and then freezes on the redirect page.

Forum god = today

I agree with onederful100.

I'd get some belt dressing (although I hate the stuff personally) and give the belt a shot the next time it starts chirping. If that stops it, then it's probably time for a new belt (but COULD be a pulley quieting down from the dressing, too).

How many miles on that belt?
