Mustang and road salt
Is it true you shouldn't drive your nice Stang in the winter because of the salt they put on the roads? Mine has just been sitting in the garage and I REALLY want to drive it!

I have 160,000 miles on my car and this is its' 4th winter. The car still looks like new underneath, I had it up on the lift doing some work a month ago and was under it this past weekend as well taking care of some maintenance. No body rust or anything.
I drive every day on a 45 mile one way commute and have done so through sun - sleet - hail - rain and SNOW with no issues. Here in SE Michigan we get snow and have already had several inches on the ground and blizzards or lake effect snow storms since the beginning of November.
Cars today are not like the cars of the 60's and 70's. If you want to drive it get on out there.

Nothing wrong with driving your Mustang in the road salt. If you're that worried about it, all you need to do is give it a good underbody wash maybe once a month until the road salt has been washed off the roads. No biggie.

You've heard of "Rustang", haven't you? Honestly, ANY car subjected to salt and other corrosaive chemicals will eventually show signs of accelerated corrosion compared to a car that hasn't been subjected. If you must drive it when there are chemicals on the road, be sure to do your best to pressure wash it clean, ESPECIALLY the undercarriage, AND allow it to dry as much and as fast as possible.
