Default 2011 Mustangs production stopped? Already 2012?!

I got an email from Shelby of America the other day, stating if anyone wants to buy a 45th Ann edition GT350, it's hard to find the white 2011 Mustang GT since Ford has already stopped production on the 2011 model year. WHAT?!

Can someone shed some light on this. I mean, it's been 2011 for a day and a half...and if I wanted to order a new car, I would be ordering a 2012? I think that's great for all the features, but what about re-sale? What happens when my (or anyone else's) 2012 has 30k miles by 2013. It's going to look like I drove the crap out of it, when I actually drove the same average as everyone else.

Why is Ford doing this? Does it have anything to do with the Boss?

I think ford does their productions in batch operations. Maybe now is when they ramp up 2012 cars?

I don't understand the issue. Its a sweet car you will be acquiring anyway.

It's crazy. I bought my 2010 in Feb 2010. Now in Feb 2011 it will be 2 years old instead of 1 year old.

There could be a few Mustangs produced but the last order date was mid November. Production for 2012 Mustangs starts the week of 1/17/11.

So I am assuming this is why it's so hard to find Mustangs with the options I want? Seems like all the dealers around here have the same stuff. No 401A, barely any HIDs, and I have personally seen only 1 Brembo pkg in person. And I'm not in the boondocks, there are 4 dealers within 10 miles of me...

Resale value on cars is crap anyways.

If you are concerned with a good return on your investment, buy bonds. LOL

Besides, the difference is negligible anyway. The difference between a 2011 (one year old) with 30k miles and a 2011 (two years old) with 30k miles wouldn't be enough to make me NOT want to buy one based on future trade-in value.

But, to be honest, I don't sell my cars. Once I get a new one, I give mine away to some struggling college kid who I think will appreciate the gift.

I'll be dumping my 05 in about 3 years and then picking up a 2011, once they are going on about 4 years old. That way I'll get one with only 15k miles for probably $18k or less.

Then, I'll drive that one until the 2014's are a few years old ect ect.

It's kinda like waiting for the DVD instead of going to the theater on day-one. You still get to see the same damn movie and enjoy it just as much... you just do it a little later than everyone else.

SO, if you are still interested in a beat-down 05 in a few years... I'm the man to contact. LOL

*always pay cash... never a payment.
