no clay will not remove swirls..What you probably see is the clay pulled the dirt out of the swirls and its making them a little harder to see and also it gives the wax the ability to fill the swirls in like its supposed to to be able to hide them even more.
Yea I wouldnt do it once a month..thats way to much..at most I would do it every 3 months..once you do it once and then you are able to put down proper protection on the paint..it makes needing to clay it much less as things will have a harder time to bond to the paint since its properly protected

Alright so I guess I will just do it once every six months like suggested earlier. And about the swirl marks, I am sure it didnt remove them fully but it seems that they are less visible and like you said more easily hidden. I wanted to get the car fully compounded, polished and waxed today but of coarse mother nature had to ruin that.

What is a good compound to use to remove swirls? I tried meguiars ultimate compound on a small spot last night and it seemed to work pretty well.

I use meguiars ultimate compound as well and I'm very happy with it. To be honest I've been **** about keeping the swirls out of the paint from the very start but still after delivery there were swirls in the car and first thing I did was wash-> clay-> compound->wax and compounding with the stuff got the swirls (albeit small ones) right out.

Spring project is going to be seeing just how good my detailing products are on my mom's 2 year old neglected camry that's a paint nightmare right now.

good stuff for cheap. BTW, I always wax after a glaze... Just use a light wax... Like this:

Stuff is so easy to get off, it's ridiculous.

pdonket -- From the day I got my car at the dealer it had swirls in it, but I guess I just made them a little bit worse from improper car care when I first got it. I was hoping to get the wash, clay, compound and wax done today but it started to rain so it basically messed up my intentions. I honestly think its our grabber blue color that shows the swirls more.

05xrunner - I was initially doing it by hand when I tried that small spot, but I was thinking of using my fathers buffer which spins at about 1300 rpms. Any suggestions?

MrSandman -- I will try that in the summer when I run out of the 3 bottles of wax I have in my garage and try something else out. I am always up to try new waxes and see what works best.

I am not sure, but its a craftsman that you can buy at sears. My father suggested just doing it by hand like he did on his vette, but if it doesnt hurt i'd like to make life easier and use the buffer.

if its a standard orbital type thing..that wont do anything to fix that paint..it doesnt spin enough or have enough power. is it this
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...1&blockType=G1
if it is that wont do anything..only good for applying and removing wax/glaze/sealants

or is it something like this
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...3&blockType=G3

if it is a rotary..I would say dont use it unless you know how to use them..a rotary and Ultimate compound if you dont know what your doing you can make a total mess of your paint or even burn through.

I am not sure what I am going to do, but I just want my paint to be like glass. I just went out and looked at it now and its a swirl mark mess and mostly visible at night
