Default removing the dipstick tube?

is there some sort of trick to pulling the tube out so i can finish the install of the headers? everything i read just says take the bracket off and it should pull straight out. i put all my strength into pulling it and it doesnt want to come out.

Any oil dipstick tube that I've ever removed through the years has always been a pressed in fit. They can be a mother to remove, but you should be able to get it. Maybe soak it with some penetrating oil and see if that helps you out.

There is a small bracket coming off the dipstick where it gets close to the engine block near driver side head, which has a bolt through it connecting it to the engine block. Remove this bolt and the dip stick pulls right out.

Funny cause I ran into the same problem installing my headers as the same time this thread was posted. Mine wasnt that hard to get out, but all you have to do is remove the bracket holding it to the block, and just pull. Mine came out pretty easy but its also pretty much new. Just pull & put some oil on the little o-ring before you put it back in

Same as mentioned above. Remove bracket bolt, and pull upward. Work it from side to side a bit if you have to, but try not to eat up the o-ring on the tube too much. Re-lube the o-ring with oil when you put it back in. If it looks damaged, replace it.

it pulls out very easy but the hard part is getting it out from in b/w the header. Its a real bear. You have to turn it and pull at the same time. Have fun...

Default Lost and Confused!

'O' ring leaking on the transmission dipstick tube on a 2000 Mustang V-6. One guy on the thread says the tube is just pressed in. Another guy says there's a bracket with a bolt to the block! So, which one applies? I can see the bracket but, can't see a bolt. If there's a bolt I'll have to do it by feel so, what size bolt - If there is one?

You will have better responses to your question if you post in the 2000 mofel year section. This is the 2005+ and there are differences
