Default Trading in 2009 Mustang GT to get 2011 GT, help!

I am thinking about trading in my 2009 Mustang GT (auto) premium with 23,700 miles. Trade in value is 20,850, I owe 19,800. What would the dealer give me on the trade in? The car is in excellent condition.

I plan on getting a base 2011 GT with a standard transmission. What is a good price for 2011 base GT?

UPDATE!!
They paid off my loan (19,886) and I was out the door with a base 2011 Mustang GT for 28,882!

I'd be surprised if you got more than a grand over the loan payoff. I guess that's better than being upside down on the loan and rolling the balance into a new one.

why not sell your car on your own, pay off the loan, then get a 2011?

it sounds about right ... but remember to never seem really interested cause you wont be able to ask for more money... Tell them that your looking around and other dealers are offering you more.

I did it with my roush... I purposely left a Chevrolet Dealer Card on my cup holder when they were evaluating my Roush... LOL they ended up giving me more ($3,000) then what they said at first... of course, after i worked my magic..

I say you get it but try getting more money from them Good Luck !

So the next Mustang I buy it might be a good idea to leave a Camaro brochure in my car?

I wouldnt be surprised if they don't try to get you to pay them a grand to take it off your hands...My dealer still has a new 2010 GT they can't get rid of for 24K
