Default Horrible vibration when opening trunk

Every time I open the trunk, I get this horribly loud vibration instead of the nice clear "pop" sound. At first I thought it was the spoiler being loose, but we checked that and it isn't. We checked all the trim pieces and they're good.

I've also noticed that the lid isn't always shutting the first time.

This really makes me angry, especially because I haven't done any mods to the rear of the car (no decklid covers or anything)

And when I met up with a local group tonight and had to open the trunk to get my coat, they all laughed at me.

It probably hasn't helped that I have tested the emergency trunk release, but all the noise started at random - months after the last time I pulled the handle.

I'm really desperate for answers here - especially since I finally prettied up the rear end with a set of sequential tail lights

Thanks

Your emergency trunk release hasn't reset itself, It's fighting with the electrical trunk release. Talk to a Ford Mechanic, It's probably an easy fix.

I'd begin by lubing the latch assy and looking for any places that show some rubbing.

Would resetting the computer (again) do the trick? It did start (I believe) after the last time I reset the computer when I put in a CAI

Can someone open their trunk and show me a picture of what the latch should look like (as in what position its in)

Thanks

YG

I would start by asking a Ford Mechanic. It may be something as simple as pushing a reset button like on the fuel pump. You may have to release it after the trunk is shut. I don't know.
If you don't want to do that then try to pull the trunk release again, this time look in there to see if it goes anywear after you release it.

My 06 GT has developed this exact problem. Did you ever find the cause?

Is that the same as the Trunk Latch Assembly? Part #43200? Can't find a listing for trunk lock motor.

My wife's 2006 Focus would do that. After having the lock replaced twice, the latch assembly replaced twice, I asked them "can you check the alignment of the latch and the plate, maybe it isn't lining up properly"

It was the alignment - it would work fine for awhile and then it would be off a hair and buzz instead of pop open. The remounted everything and adjusted it and no problem ever again.
