2011 5.0 sound tube help please
#12
The sound tube makes it so you can actually hear the engine running. Apparently, our Coyotes are so damn quite that Ford had to put a sound resonating tube from the intake to the firewall into the cabs of our cars so we can hear them.
I tell you what though, at 3500 RPM and above, I have no problems hearing my engine!

Oh man, I did this today and it makes the engine sound so much better under stress! Under normal acceleration there isn't much difference, but if you have it in fifth gear or so and push the throttle a bit more it really growls!
Instead of removing my piece from the inside I just removed the whole back piece (it's only about a foot long) and removed the foam pieces from both ends of it. It was kind of hard to see from the inside.

It comes off at the intake tube and at the fire wall. Both ends are held by a pinch-clamp. Just get a pair of pliers and pinch this clamp to pull off the tube. You can then access that foam piece.
Of course the draw back is if you run over a skunk, I think you will totally smell it, even if you shut your AC vents to inside air only.
And don't get me started about driving behind a horse with gas problems!

Where is the 'cone thing'? How do you remove the foam from there?

Try that before you start removing a bunch of clamps cause it only took me 5-10 min to remove and put back on
