Open the hood and check the ground wires and and make sure they are tight! If they are loose, it can cause issues. Also, inspect the battery terminals. You may want to take your battery to autozone or advanced auto parts and have it tested. Worth a try!

+1, mines also one of the newer(ish) model s197's and you'd think most of the bugs with the radio/battery would be fixed, wrong.
When my batt died, Radio went crazy(showed all kinds of weird symbols on the screen) and the car made some weird clicking(I think) noises.

Your battery didn't make that sound, it was your starter solenoid making it.

Sounds to me like the battery. Before winter, mine was starting to die. It wouldn't turn over, starter would make the clicking noise and all the electronics in the car were acting up. For instance, if I got the car to start, I'd be headed down the road and the lights wouldn't come on for a few seconds. Hard to describe, but it was definitely odd and sounds similar to your issue. I'd try a new battery

I should have stated my info a bit clearer. I didn't mean the car battery made the noise, I meant the noise occurred due the battery needing replaced.
