Default 3:73 or 4:10 gears. Which to get. Dad said....

So my dad said if I agree to keep the current Stang till I get out of school that he would help me get some gears.

I see lots on here run 4:10s on their 05-10 Stangs. I worry about higher end speed using 4:10. Would 3:73 be a better compromise?

Also my dad said he wont get me a supercharger because it's too risky and he worried I'd get mad and lose control of the car and stuff in snow and that.

Are you stock? If so, get an intake/tune first. You will get more gains, and it costs a lot less. Gear installations are expensive and don't always go perfectly - many people get gear whine.

if you plan on going FI, don't go with the 4.10's... I just have bolt-ons for another couple weeks, and I can already tell that when we drop the new engine and turbo in... it will light the tires up wayyy to easy..... if you don't plan on going FI, I would definitely go with the 4.10's

Your car is too old, tell your dad to get you a 2012 GT.

Agreed, but get the shelby instead. Than rip out the motor, forge the entire thing, drop a whipple 4.0 in it, and get pissed off and lose control. Definitely the best way to go!!!
