Default question about ATF in fuel tank

I had a conversation with some guys at work and they were talking about adding a little atf to the fuel to help lubricate the fuel system. I was wondering if anyone here does that. I havent done it but was curious

Add a little sugar too! It adds horsepower like you can't imagine!

Wow! Now that is the first time I ever heard of ATF being used as a fuel additive!
Whatever the hell would someone do that for? And moreover, is it even soluble in gasolines? It could just simply float on top of the gasoline like oil does on water and it wont even get into the fuel rails!

I heard of water injection to temporarily increase compression ratio (water is assumed to be incompressible) and piston propeller airplanes of WW2 used this technique to get more power out of their airplanes.
Is this the thought behind ATF fluid? To increase compression ratio of the engine without changing the pistons or milling down the heads?

ATF? I guess you don't work with geniuses, why would you need to lubricate the fuel system? Gasoline is the lubricant and coolant, no need for anything else especially ATF.

Doesn't Mystery Oil just actually burn up with the fuel when it is ignited in the cylinder?

Funny, I've often heard MMO is ATF.

At any rate, most of these "add ATF to oil/gas" old wives tales are from the 70's, before motor oil had any detergent properties... nowadays plain motor oil has has far more detergent in it than ATF...
