Welcome to the board!

There is a button called "New thread" on the left side of the page.
It is a black rectangular button with a pic of a manila folder with a sheet of paper sticking out of it.
To find it, scroll down some until you see on the left side of the page

I'd go with the Bullitt. It is a great car and has the best stock setup of the 05-09 Mustangs.
Dont get caught up in the "you can make it as fast as a 5.0" crap... It's not worth it. The 4.6 is great as is, and trying to add 100+ hp is just going to cause problems in the long run. Trust me..all I thought about was making up the 100hp difference between my 4.0 and the 4.6. In the end, it's just not worth it for a daily driver. I waited patiently...and my reward was stepping up 200 hp

Something to consider, the 2010s have a better suspension than the 2005/2009... borrowed from the Bullitt.

Personally, the Bullitt is easily one of the best looking Mustangs. Put staggered wheels on that thing, and it screams Old School!

Default Yes the Bullitt....

...my DHG '08 with Steeda sports and Tokico adjustables.

By the way, I'm way past mid-life at age 68.

When does mid-life crisis begin....what age and what is it? Trying to re-live one's youth?

Hey! I resent that comment.
There are fine specimen in OT you know...
And the new GTO is the new GTO. If you don't believe that, then GTFO!

Lol I'm on OT all the time. They are great down there, but some are a little rough around the edges.

I'm planning on getting a V-8 stick, 2008-2010. I'm a noob to the modding scene but not to turning a wrench so I'd expect to do a few mods to a non-Bullitt model but I'm not sure I'd be inclined to go past CAI, tune , gears, exhaust in the short-run which the Bullitt has (mostly) covered. Given that, are there good reasons in for choosing a non-Bullitt model and modding vs just taking the package deal?
Depends on why you want the car and what you see yourself doing with it. For a car that up front you'd intend to eventually modify more heavily than your current list, I'd say start with a GT unless there's something about the Bullitt that you just gotta have. Otherwise go for the Bullitt, and if its condition passes muster don't look back. The biggest reason I'm not driving one is that certain options were unavailable on it, or at least they weren't 3 years ago when we were buying.

Also, any value in a tuner for the Bullitt if I'm not going to change any hardware?
Not as much as with a "plain GT". The Bullitt tune is essentially the FRPP cold air & tune, with possibly a slightly higher redline/fuel cut. So I'd expect to see only the incremental difference between the FRPP and whoever's.

Other things I should be considering?
Koni Sport shocks & struts, once they come off national backorder. For either car at least eventually. Except for needing a spring compressor for the fronts and the alignment afterward, none of the common suspension mods are particularly difficult or challenging. I've heard that getting at the UCA can be a little difficult, but everything else is as straightforward as anything on your list other than the gears. Springs, shocks/struts, front and rear bars, and at least the rear lower arms are all easily driveway do-able. For that matter, so is alignment if your driveway is reasonably flat.

Welcome aboard. And BTW, if you're looking to buy it because it's the right car at the right time, it's not crisis.
