Default Need your help on the value of an 06' V6 with low miles!

Hey all,

Doing a little research here and I need your help. Here is the situation. I'm aiming to pay off my student loans in the next two years. I live close to public transportation, so I no longer need a vehicle, and would rather get out of the 500 bucks a month I spend repaying student loans so I can play with more cars in the future.

I currently drive a 68' Camaro. In decent shape, but nothing overtly special about it. I put it up for sale/trade, with the idea of trading it for a newer car that people can then finance to buy, as financing a 68' Camaro is quite difficult compared to an 03+ vehicle.

Got a call tonight of a guy who has an 06 V6 with the Pony Package, and 18000 miles. Clean title and all that.

I'm trying to gauge how much cash to ask for on top of the car to make it worth my while. Nada lists the retail value at 15.7k, which I feel is high even though its looks clean from the photos.

So I turn to you all. Assuming all maintenece kept up, and everything is clean/good shape, what do you think I could reasonably sell this Stang for. I realize markets will dictate that to a certain point, but let me know what you think .

Here are some photos.

Thanks all, I really appreciate the help .

PS. I get a lot of "keep the Camaro" type responses. While I appreciate the sentiment, and I love the car, I REALLY would love to not have student loans anymore.

#1: unfortunately i totally agree to your trade/sell/finance logic and think paying off these loans will be a good thing for you in the long run (damn, i watch to much suze orman).

and yes, i'd rather see the camaro, pics??

#2: i would't rely on nada or any such theoretical #'s. search real $$ on autotrader.com , a quick search around here brought up 180 6er coupes 05-08 within 500mls around me.
pricing between 8k for 100.000+ mls to a little more than 15k at the very upper end.

i paid 18 for my gt convertible a year ago, can't really see someone paying 15 for a 6banger coupe but that may differ by location.

$15k does seem high for an '06 no matter the miles.
I would offer $11-12k. It is a very clean car and a pony package, but it has cloth seats and is 6 yrs old.

My 06 V6 PP in perfect shape with 31K miles and documented oil changes from day 1 (seemed to be about every 4K) was only worth 12.5 from a dealer. That means probably 11.5 from person to person. I say it's worth around 13K.

Thanks all for the comments so far. I've been checking craigslist and I'll certainly take a peek at autotrader. I'll probably end up asking for a few K in cash on top of the trade.

I just spend 4 minutes staring at your car. And I don't even like Camaros.

yeah, keep the camaro.

looks real clean from here, nice cowl hood, never been a fan of the front spoiler.

are these 8" vette rallies less the trim rings or 7" w the 8" centers, just looks a little off.
center console auto w the cool 68/9 handle?

impo gm should have stuck w the new camaro closer to the 67/68 like ford 05-09 stuck to the 67/68 mustang which is the reason i went for it.

Don't use the retail (NADA or KBB) for your pricing reference. Retail means from a dealer.

As mentioned, check autotrader for private sales and KBB for private value. Use that as your starting reference point.

Current not a lot to go on in my area. There are some in the 10-12k range, but who knows if they're actually selling at those prices. Most have 40-80k miles. Haven't seen any near 18k. Not sure how much value that adds, if any in the real market.

Looking for more of a "what would you pay" type of thing.
