6 speed transmission on a 4.0?
Hey there,
Is there any 6 speed out there that would mate up to a 4.0 without a whole lot of experimental fabrication? Would the "final drive ratio" be lower, increasing mpg's ? |
I was wondering the same thing about 4.6L
|
You can mate a TR6060/T56 (these are both 6speed) onto a 4.6L and 4.0L engine; I believe the modular engines have a universal bell housing bolt pattern.
The only difference I could see is that you might have to order custom made crossmember, but I think there might be an aftermarket crossmember. Or, I could totally be wrong and the stock crossmemeber will fit on a TR6060/T56 directly, since the TR3650 is also a Tremec. |
That sounds great!
I plan on trading up to a GT within a year - and having a 6 speed would do wonders for my wallet. I might be able to get one for free since my uncle owns a scrap yard. Do you know any cars that have that transmission stock? Thanks |
You will need this for the TR6060 or the 3650.... I am about to get one for the 3650 I am getting Sunday.

Hold on!
The input shafts are different between those trannies and the stock POS T5. So you need to have that 6spd altered. I forgot who it was now, but in our V6 section someone did that swap successfully... |
Yeah, NicePony did the swap. I think he's the one who made the conversion piece too.
|
Nice Pony did do it and he has the adapter plates for them like I posted....
|
Could someone post the link for that thread please? Thanks.
