Default Help: Installing new Faux cap

I took off All the GT badges on my v6.

Today i took off the rear faux, my plan was to reinstall the new cap with 3M double sided tape.

But the back of the faux cap isnt smooth and the stuff that was on there before was some strong as ****. Would i be better off using JB weld?

heres a pic of the old adhesive.

Also any advice on removing this crap

Goo gone or goof off will take off the old junk with some elbow grease. It comes off easy. I used 3m brand automotive body panel double stick tape bought from Napa to reapply. I doubled up the tape to get it high enough to catch the paint. Has been stuck on for over a year now.

Use the 3m tape. Its held on emblems for many, many hundreds of thousands of miles. I think it's proven itself.

What are you replacing it with?

+1 on goo gone. I used that to get the mess off that was left behind from my pedestal spoiler

I'd go with the GT500 badges ... I used double-sided 3m tape on my badges and i've had no issues whatsoever

I would highly recommend avoiding jb weld. 3M makes all sorts of tapes some of which are way stronger then you will need. My blackout panel and louvers are held on with 3m and have been for quite some time with no issues. Get that old adhesive off somehow and go with 3M
