v6 2010 problem Strut Tower Brace
Hey Guys!!! Look, I bought this Strut Tower Brace for my 2010 v6, and I installed it and looked great. When I took the car for a ride, the car felt really tough and it was rattling with another metal when idle (assumed was with the hood). Took it off again, and saw that the lower tube was scraped badly, hence it was making lots of contact with the intake manifold. I have no decorative cover.
Is this normal? Can it have an adverse effect on the car if I put it back?? What you recommend??

THANKS EVERYBODY!!!!!

If it's contacting the intake, I would say it is definitely a problem. I wouldn't put it back on until you figure out a solution.
First, I would contact AM and confirm they sent you the correct brace. If they sent the right one, maybe yours is defective. It's hard to tell without pics. How much is the intake contacting it? If it's barely touching, maybe you could take it off and shim it up with a washer or two under each side of the strut brace...? Just throwing ideas.

Thanks man... I was thinking of taking it to a muffler shop, so that they can heat it, and "flat out" the center of the lower tube where it is touching with the intake. It is just the center, but it scraped off the powder coating, and it started to bend or melt (don't know how to describe it exactly) a little bit of the intake, where it made contact.

You sure you installed it in the right direction or positioned correctly?
Put a Roush strut tower brace on my '06 yesterday with no issues. Even cleared the plenum cover I have. Now there might be some hood rub..

$185?
Send that appearance accessory back.
Flattening the tubes where it contacts the intake
will seriously compromise the structural integrity
and rigidity benifts (if it really had any to begin with)
and really bring out the appearance only quality
of the $185 appearance accessory item.
Or space it up with some washers for that down home hillbilly effect.
Or install dropped motor mounts like the ones for a blower install...
Or send it back and lick your wounds and get something else
for the $185 that actually helps performance. Like maybe
a G-Track brace if your stang dont have the OEM swingset
material A-Arm brace from the factory.

I had the same problem when I bought the two bar roush strut brace a while back. I called roush and was told that because the sixxer engine sits higher than the eight that it rubs. Dont know if that is correct or not but either way I took it off and got a different one. No problems now
