Default turning signal alarm?????

Today i was driving to the beach and had my right signal on to get off one parkway and onto another, i had my stereo up loud and when i got onto the second pkwy, the signal didnt shut cause it wasnt a true turn. i didnt realize it was still on till a few minutes later i got an alarm sound ( like the beeping when you dont have your seatbelt on) scared the **** out of me, i turned the signal off and it stopped.
Anybody else know that this happens, or was it something else?
Chris

your suspicions are correct...if you do not turn the steering wheel enough for the signal to turn off and you dont turn it off by hand, then the signal will let off the same "beep" that it does when you dont have your seatbelt on...I guess to warn you that it's still on...

Its part of the IUP. You have an alarm that lets you know when you have left the turn indicator on as such. I read about it while at the dealership, test driving an 06.

I saw a cartoon in the paper about a week ago. RV unit on a twisty, no passing area available, two lane road. A car trapped behind him for miles, with the RV unit's turn signal constantly flashing.

They arrive at a gas station. The car driver appraches the RV driver, hands him a few bucks. Says "this is for your broken turn signal". RV unit driver "my turn signal is not broken". Car driver (as breaking the offending turn signal) "it is now!"

I got that sudden shock too! While getting over through 5 lanes of moderate traffic on the 405. It's the same warning as when my GT is low on gas. Now that one I really could do without! Why can't they just give us a warning light? It comes up and I have to hit RESET to see the screen I had up. Plus with me only getting about 15.6 MPG, I hear it a lot!

I glad to see this on here. It's nice to know about these things. I would have been,"What's wrong now!"

I love when the seatbelt warning comes on when my wife is in the passenger seat and we are driving and the beeping starts.
We just at each other and she says,"It's me, I don't have my seatbelt on"

As for what Orion_240 said:

I don't mind it too much, but it does take your screen away until you reset it. I reset only after I get gas. In the meantime, you drive around seeing this one screen saying 50 miles to empty,49 miles to empty etc. I think that thing is bull****. I live only a one or so from work and it drop to 20 miles to empty in a day.

I get the same audio alarms for turn signals left on too long, trunk left open, parking break engaged while moving (umm... not that I'd know etc). I only have the SUP, not the IUP.

I guess Ford doesn't want anyone driving their fine mustang down the road with the signal on looking like an idiot.
One good thing is that is your seatbelt alarm goes off, you can turn on you turn signal and it will silence the alarm. Unfortunately, that will also get us back to the "idiot driving with the turn signal on" catagory. I guess we should just wear the darn seatbelt.[&o]
