STEEDA CAI + SCT tuning 89 - 94 octane

Back to the TUNE MODS.
Installed the cold air intake YESTERDAY. (Car is at rest until tune arrives tomorrow)
Question:
I am running 89 OCTANE on my mustang now, it has a full tank, I installed the cold air intake and I am waiting for the SCT tuner sometime tomorrow April 05. SCT will come with 89 and 93 tuning

How should I proceed with the tuning? do a 89 OCTANE first, empty the tank, fill up with 93 and then re-tune with SCT 93 OCTANE? Does that really matter?
Someone told me that it does and I can get some detonation if I install the 93 with 89 octane? Is this right?

I appreciate an advice on this.
Thank you guys,
brazeagle

First, don't run the Steeda without the tune. You'll run lean and throw a code and it's not healthy for the engine.

I suggest you load the 89 tune and get the feel of it compared to the stock tune (including the stock airbox). Also pay attention to how it winds up in the low, mid and upper RPM ranges. Then after 2 fills with 93 octane, load the 93 tune and make a similar comparison. Have fun and try not to get in trouble.

Thanks NUKE, that sounds like a great advice, I think the STEEDA personnel told me something alike when I actually purchase the system.

QUESTION: when I tune to 89, now after empty I will use 93 (two full tanks) would that be a problem since I will be running a lower octane tune (89) WITH 93 GAS?

Really Appreciated your advice,
Best regards,

You can run your 89 tune with anything from 89 octane on up. Higher than 89 octane on an 89 octane tune won't hurt but won't help either.
