How could a tune possibly reprogram the Cluster?? Not gonna work ... you need to swap the cluster.

I'm almost positive the cluster is the exact same thing in between the both and just the faces are different.

Physically and electronically the clusters are identical. Howerver the MPH and RPM calibrations are different.

On the V6 the 60MPH mark may be the 70MPH mark on the GT overlay. Also ... the 4K RPM mark on the V6 Maybe be 5K on the GT. Since the GT markings go higher both the the RPM and MPH gauges ... the marks are compressed and do not line up with the V6 which are more spread out.

If you don't mind this being off .. then no biggie. But ... when the GT Overlay says you are doing 140MPH ... you are really only doing 120MPH ...

I understand that, maybe the dealership could recalibrate if I really wanted to.

I know there are Roush and Saleen overlays for sale on eBay (they go to 200MPH) ... but the problem is that there hasn't been a way found to change the calibration. Roush and Saleen won't do it for you from what I have heard. And I assume folks have already tried the dealer.

Seems like too much work for what it is. I've really wanted to swap to a Mycolor cluster for a while but have been hesitant because of the headache some people have had.

I don't mean to bring this back from the dead but here I go. I have a v6 2002 (yea I don't belong here.) Needless to say my v6 cluster is all ****ed up and I have to replace it. Can I simply buy a used GT cluster and just plug it in and go?

What extra work needs to be done?

You'd probably get better advice in the 2002 section - there are lots of differences between the 2002 and 2005+.

yeah, lots of differences. The '05+ cluster uses a in-car data network to receive its values for the gauges, and the instrument cluster turns the stepper motors appropriately.

The v6 and GT gauges, as mentioned, would have different internal calibrations to turn the gauge the appropriate amount.
NO TUNE CAN ADJUST FOR THE DIFFERENCE: it's not tune related.
