Do you even need that antenna on the fender if you have satalite radio? ive always wondered because there are 2 seperate antennas. If I dont need it thenill just get rid of it.
Nope. Separate antenna for satellite.

Looks like you're all set. If I were going to do it again I would get a 14" which would meet the top of the windshield.

I got mine here, works great, ain't cheap!

correction to my earlier post. This is the antenna I got.

http://www.americanmuscle.com:80/bialshan.html

it says 13 inch, but from the base to the top is 13 and 3/4th inches. The reception is the same as stock for me.

I'll take some pictures of it tomorrow to post in this thread.

Bought the same one on Ebay and have no issues with it! I do live in a very populated area with many local radio stations and have no signal problems as of yet!

Did the same thing probably 5 times now for myself and different people. Just in case. Use JB weld. That ball will not go anywhere.

ORIGINAL: MACHINE

just did a simple DIY job...no major skill involved. Some quick instructions...

Take your stock antenna and mark the height at which you want it to sit...
Remove the antenna and place it in a vice
Take a set of pliers, wrap a rag aorund the ball-end of the antenna and pop the ball off - dont let it roll away!
Cut off the antenna at the mark you placed earlier
Grind the tip of the antenna to allow for the ball replacemant
Replace the ball on the end of the antenna - might need to tap it lightly to get it seated properly...

I've experienced no reception issues...
