Yellow fog lights

Yellow fog lights
I wanted yellow fog lights, so I did some searching and found that 3k was the temperature I was looking for. So, I ordered some 3k bulbs on eBay and put them in. To my surprise, they were a very pale yellow color, almost exactly like the Silverstar bulbs I had just taken out. I was looking for a brighter yellow color.
Did I just get some cheap bulbs, or should I look into a lower color temperature?

Although 3000K SHOULD be more yellow than standard lamps (typically 3500K to 3800K), you should try 2500K. I've been running the Hella Optilux Extreme Yellow (XY) in all my vehicles after being dissatisfied with other 3000K lamps in dark, dense fog and rain.

This is what I did: http://www.headlightarmor.com/05-09-...ting-kits.aspx
You don't have to worry about the bulbs melting the fog light housing or wiring.

Why would you? Providing you use a 55W lamp like the OE wattage, you can put in whatever color bulb you can find. Color (or temperature in Kelvin) does NOT relate to the amount of heat a lamp generates.

I only put that out there Nuke because I have seen allot of threads on here about the housing melting or the metal around the bulb falling of into the fog light. I don't know the wattage of the bulbs the OP used.

I think the issue with the melting lights come from bulbs that have a colored coating on them rather than being colored by the temperature of the light coming off the filament. Something about the coating holding heat in the bulb.

I really didn't want to put in another HID kit as I already have one in the headlights, and I really don't want to blind drivers with HIDs in a regular foglight. However I may go this route.
