Default Stock Muffler Replacement Suggestions

I am looking for a muffler that will be a little louder than the original stock system. I don't want it as loud as the SLP Loudmouth but something that has a more agressive sound than these stock mufflers and not an arm and leg for them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check out the Magnaflow and Flowmaster web sites for their Sound clips/videos. It'll give you a rough idea.

I was doing some comaprison shopping and it looks like Summit Racing has the Flowmaster American Thunder series for $277.39. I was wondering how these sound as I don't want it sound like a dual exhaust Chevy truck going down the road.

Any aftermarket exhaust is definately going to bring up the sound level. I went with the borla cat-backs. When you turn the key on a cold start your neighbors will know but when she goes down to idle all you get is a sweet rumble which is probably what you are looking for. I have to admit, they are pricey. From what I have heard, you will most likely get that same rumble from the flowmasters for a much better price.

After the installation, I noticed that with a cat-back you are basicly replacing the same mandrel bent tubing 2.5 tubing for a cleaner one. My advise, go with an axle back. Hope that helps.

I've got the flowmasters on my 05 vert. Couldn't be happier. I got them from Summit - good price, great customer service.

Dear 05BlueGT,

Give those ponies the MAC Attack and I don't mean "McDonalds"...

I'm sure that you will be very satisifed...

To hell with the neighbors! Get the SLPS! Hell, TAKE EVERYTHING OFF EXCEPT FOR THE HEADERS!

(make sure you rev it a little as you pass by any nosey/chronic-complaining neighbors you have)

Just kidding. I heard the Bassanis sound nice, not too loud, but strong.
