Default Upgrading to BOSS 302 intake manifold, should I beef up auto tranny?

Hey guys, I have a 2011 5.0 and am looking at the BOSS 302 intake manifold. With a computer tune, the gains are supposed to be in the neighborhood of 50 hp and 40 lbft. However, I'm pretty sure the stock auto tranny can just barely handle the power already under the hood, so I'm somewhat weary about adding that much to it. Anyone with experience care to tell me if I need to beef up the tranny or not? Thanks.

No, you really do not. As a matter of fact, the Boss 302 Coyote makes a little less torque than the non-Boss Coyote, and torque is what determines if the tranny can take it. And even though you get more HP, the torque loss actually protects your tranny.

You will be fine with the 6R80 (your auto 6spd).
Also, professional modders have built yup engines to make nearly 600ft-lbf at the crank to get no less than 500 or so ft-lbf at the wheels. And this is through a stock 6R80 tranny and the 6R80 took it without skipping a beat.
So a Boss manifold that ups your crank BHP to say 450 BHP will not destroy your 6R80.

Thanks, I appreciate it. With my last GT I only stuck with light mods (CAI, catback, etc.) and I wanted to have a little more fun with this one.

I read that the 6R80 can handle about 400 ftlb (although there seems to be disagreement on this figure), I just didn't know how literal that number was.

400 ftlbs seems a little low. The 5r55s can handle more than that and the trans in your car is suppose to be stronger.
